Bill Brand is a multi-disciplinary artist whose films, public artwork, installations and works-on-paper have exhibited worldwide in museums, galleries microcinemas and on television.

These include:

  • Masstransiscope (1980), an installation in a New York City subway tunnel that is animated by the movement of passing trains

  • Experimental and documentary films including Susie’s Ghost (2011), Home Less Home (1991), and Acts of Light (1972-74)

  • Works-on-paper and video exhibited at Galerie Arnaud Lefebvre, Paris and Shanghai University Art Gallery

Bill Brand lives in New York City and is married to the artist Katy Martin.

He is Professor Emeritus of Film and Photography at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. and teaches film preservation at the New York University Moving Image Archiving and Preservation graduate program, Cinema Studies, Tisch School of the Arts.

He is co-owner of BB Optics, Inc., a company that specializes in archival film preservation and post-production services for independent filmmakers, libraries, museums and archives.
